Generally, all non-Qatari visitors require a visa to enter Qatar, although certain nationalities are eligible for a visa on arrival.

It is the responsibility of the participant to check their visa specific requirements according to their nationality. 

Please note that visa requirements can occasionally change at short notice. It is the sole responsibility of participants to ensure they have the correct visa required to enter Qatar.

Please note that Qatar National Library accepts no liability for any MetLib 2016 Qatar participants who do not secure a visa.





Participants attending MetLib 2016 Qatar should make accommodation arrangements personally. Doha offers a wide range of accommodation options. Below are some international-standard hotels we recommended. We have managed to get special rates for MetLib participants in the following hotels:





Transportation will be provided by the organizer from and to the hotels mentioned above on this page. However, if you choose to stay at another hotel or with a family member or a friend, you will need to make your own arrangements for transportation to and from the conference venue.






The national transport company Mowasalat operates the bus, taxi and limousine service Karwa. Taxi fares around Doha vary according to the time of day and type of vehicle. Participants are advised to confirm the fare in advance of their journey. We recommend that you take a taxi if you miss the bus provided by the organizer, or if you want to visit local attractions, as this is the most convenient way of getting around Doha. Taxi booking line: (+974) 4458 8888.



Mowasalat also has a bus network servicing all areas within the State of Qatar. The most affordable transport option, buses are available from the main bus station or from various designated bus stops across the city. Enquiries can be made at (+974) 44588869. However, we recommend that you take a taxi if you miss the bus provided by the organizer or if you want to visit the local attractions, as this is the most convenient way of getting around Doha.


Tourist Buses

Two tourist bus services were recently introduced to Doha. Doha Bus is a hop-on, hop-off bus service . Tickets need to be purchased in advance. 

The other tourist bus service is operated by Qatar Museums as a shuttle between the Museum of Islamic Art and the Arab Museum of Modern Art (Mathaf) and is free of charge. It operates from Wednesday to Sunday from 11am to 5pm.


About the Conference Venue: Qatar National Convention Center

The Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC) will be the main venue for the conference. The conference opening ceremony will take place in Auditorium 2, while the daily sessions will take place in meeting rooms 103 and 104.
